MTSS-K presents at SREE 2025 Conference in Chicago, Illinois
On 10 October 2025, the MTSS-K consortium presented its research at the Society for Research on Educational Effectiveness (SREE) 2025 Conference in Chicago, Illinois, introducing the design and preliminary pilot findings of the MTSS-K study “Enhancing early education in Europe through multi-tiered systems of support”.
The presentation showcased how the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) approach can help create more equitable and inclusive learning environments by providing structured, tiered interventions to strengthen children’s literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional and behavioural (SEB) skills from an early age. Implemented across six European countries – Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Cyprus – MTSS-K is the first project to adapt and test the MTSS framework within European kindergarten classrooms, also integrating a family involvement component to extend learning support beyond the classroom.
Early pilot results presented at SREE indicate promising feasibility for introducing MTSS practices in diverse educational settings. The session generated lively discussion on the potential of early intervention to reduce inequities in learning outcomes and better support children with different learning needs. In addition to the poster session, the MTSS-K team participated in workshops on cluster randomised controlled trials (RCT), meta-analyses, and tiered intervention design, exchanging with international experts in the field. The consortium also celebrated team member and associate professor at the University of Cagliari, Dr. Marta Pellegrini, who was honoured with the Early Career Researcher Award at SREE 2025, a well-deserved recognition of her outstanding contributions to the field.
